about us

WHAT MAKES CROSSFIT TYLER DIFFERENT?

We provide a higher degree of teaching, coaching and mentoring in a personal community environment aimed to focus on each of our individual members needs. Rather than a more detached leadership “one-size-fits-all” or “unlimited” program, our coaching staff serves in many ways to fully integrate the high degree of varied skill sets necessary to reach your fitness and health goals.

After my Father died unexpectedly from a heart attack at the age of 56, I decided I wanted to get into better shape. I have always gone to the gym and participated in some group classes but I wanted to test myself more and live a healthy lifestyle. I found CrossFit in 2009 and fell in love with it!  I knew immediately I wanted to help others on their fitness journey using the CrossFit methodology. Within a couple of years of coaching, my husband Brad and I founded CrossFit Tyler in 2011.  Being able to work with my husband and bring our 2 boys, Leo and Guy, up in the gym has been so rewarding over the years. I love coaching and inspiring people. I consider it an honor to have people trust me with helping them become the best they can be.

In 2022, Brad and I passed the torch to the current owners, Brittany and Scott. We are thrilled to be a part of the coaching staff and the community at CFT.

I was a cheerleader in college until I married my high school sweetheart and he joined the Army. After graduating from Liberty University, I began teaching and coaching cheerleading. When we started a family, I left the professional world so I could stay home and care for our two children, Ella and John Luke. After we moved to the Tyler area in 2015, I began teaching again.  During that time I also discovered CrossFit and found a home at CrossFit Tyler.

What I love about coaching, like with teaching, is that every person is different. I love the challenge of leading athletes along their unique fitness journeys.  I am most happy when an athlete is celebrating an accomplishment they never thought they could achieve.

I grew up in East Texas. I am married to the love of my life, have 3 kids and a sweet grandson!  I  worked out here and there, but nothing consistent. On September 4, 2014 I found CrossFit Tyler and have been there ever since. Everyone is like one big family! In 2018 I started coaching, which has been so rewarding. Between watching someone getting a pull-up, muscle up, double under, etc. for the first time to a lift PR…it’s been the best job ever!! I myself have seen many, many changes and I wouldn’t trade it for nothing!

  • Favorite workout: Fight gone bad….Anything with hang cleans, OHS, hang cleans and more hang cleans
  • Least favorite movement: snatch
  • Cheat day meal: Don Benitos and all the chips!
  • Surprising fact: I gots some moves!! I may break it down a time or two in class!

I grew up in Tyler and graduated from Tatum High School. After high school I joined the Marine Corps. I served my first term from 2001-2005 in 29 Palms Ca. I moved back to Tyler in 2006 and my son, Kody, was born. I decided to join the Marines again in 2007 and I served my second term from 2007-2011. By 2015 I had gained weight and weighed over 260lbs. Due to some health issues starting to occur, I decided to lose weight. I joined Anytime Fitness and was able to drop to 225lbs. In 2018 I found and joined CF Tyler where I have achieved the best fitness level in my life and found an awesome community and family.

At the age of 10 I found volleyball and fell in love. I played for my school team as well as in a competitive club league until I graduated high school. I then played 2 years at a small D1 school until I transferred.

After graduating college I found a new passion and started my career in law enforcement. Since beginning this journey I have stayed very physically active and even became a physical fitness instructor in the local police academy.

After years of weight training I became bored and needed a change. A friend convinced me to try CrossFit. I found my home at CrossFit Tyler and have been a member since 2018. I loved it so much I started coaching in 2020. I love being able to help people in their fitness journey and watching them exceed their own expectations!

  • Favorite workout: Fight Gone Bad or anything with cleans
  • Least favorite movement: Thrusters
  • Cheat day meal: hard choice! But follow it up with marble slab ice cream!

I grew up in East Texas playing sports. When I went to Texas Woman’s University in Denton I found rugby, and played club rugby for over 10 years and loved it. I moved back to East Texas for work. I have been a Physical Therapist since 2008 and I work in rehab. I am married with two boys, Raylan and Clint. I ran a boot camp at my hospital for several years. I love instructing and coaching, and if I wasn’t a PT I would be a high school coach. I fell in love with CrossFit after watching my sister in a competition. I found CrossFit Tyler and I knew immediately it was the community I needed. I have been a member since 2015 and I started coaching in 2016.

  • Favorite workout: Isabel or DT, I love barbell cycling.
  • Least favorite movement: Dips
  • Cheat day meal: Torchy’s Tacos

After high school I married my high school sweetheart and joined the Army. After getting out of the military we moved to the Tyler area. I finished graduate school at Liberty University, finalized my Professional Counseling credentials, and I am currently working as a LPC. I found Crossfit in 2015 shortly after our move to the area, was hooked after my first workout, and I have been involved in the CFT community ever since.

I love coaching because, like counseling, I get to come alongside people on their journey to health, whether it be physical or mental. At CrossFit Tyler we provide much more than just exercise. I love helping people accomplish whatever goals they have within our supportive community.

  • Favorite workout: Long chippers, grunt work, and anything with hang cleans or double unders
  • Least favorite movement: Burpees/Thrusters
  • Cheat day meal: Mom’s fried fish and shrimp, homemade french fries, and Bluebell ice cream
  • Surprising fact: I would say that I was a cheerleader in college but I’m not sure that is a surprise to anyone at this point (thanks to my wife and mother-in-law) so probably the fact that I can play numerous musical instruments.
